Community Service Learning Program (CSLP)

KinderSmile Community Service Learning Program (CSLP) offers mentorship and guidance to students from high school to college and beyond, to acquire leadership skills, and share in the mission and goals of KinderSmile Foundation. CSLP members have the option to participate in internships with the Foundation, to help teach children about oral hygiene at KindeSmile Community Oral Health Center, and to volunteer at local health fairs and community events such as Give Kids a Smile Day. Students become aware of the importance of public health and community dentistry in order to bridge the gap in access to care for at-risk families.

Dedicated CSLP volunteers may elevate their roles within the organization and serve as ambassadors for oral health in New Jersey and abroad. Students become aware of the lack of access to oral health among at-risk children and families, and the impact on their overall health. They gain a greater appreciation for their blessings by having the opportunity to join KinderSmile Foundation's annual mission trips and visiting under-developed countries such as Haiti, Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, and more.

“I am grateful for the opportunity and impact KinderSmile Foundation has had on me. The internship has strengthened my determination to become a dentist”.

Malika J., a student from Columbia University, CSLP Alumna

Give Back a Smile (GBAS)

KinderSmile Foundation's Give Back a Smile (GBAS) program creates a unique platform to increase access to oral health care. Give Back A Smile dentists and dental hygienists have a year-round opportunity to donate their professional talents to at-risk uninsured and underserved patients. Dental professional volunteers (licensed dentists and dental hygienists) earn CE credits while providing crucial care to patients at KinderSmile Community Oral Health Centers and at offsite visits to schools and community centers. Our patients benefit from a variety of expertise represented by our group of volunteers.
