Dr. Sara Kalambur, Jen Akkaway and RDH Arlene Coyle the "Tooth Fairy" visited the Smart Cookie Learning Center, 25 Evergreen Place, East Orange, NJ.

Dr. Nicole McGrath, Dr.Dimitri Stillman and RDH Arlene Coyle the "Tooth Fairy" visited ARC Kohler School in Mountainside, NJ, to serve 47 special-needs children.

Dr. Nicole McGrath will present an Oral Health Education Workshop to 50 parents at 6pm, at Neighborhood Child Care Center, 30 Maple Ave, Montclair, NJ.

Dr.Sara Kalambur, RDH Yvonne Kieman and Arlene Coyle, the "Tooth Fairy," will visit Norjene's Daycare Center, 61 North Arlington Ave, EO NJ, to examine and educate over 40 children.

The Junior Board of KinderSmile Foundation will make a Community Outreach Trip to Port of Spain, Trinidad. This event is part of the KinderSmile Community Service Learning Program (KSCSLP).

NJDA Oral Health Coalition will hold a Meeting at NJDA HQ in North Brunswick, NJ; Dr. Nicole McGrath and Dr. Sara Kalambur will be attending this meeting. Please visit www.njda.org for further details about NJ Oral Health Coalition.

Dr. Nicole McGrath returned to Jamaica, WI to follow up on Outreach Program of 2009-2010. She provided free dental services with an in-kind value of $8,000 to 14 children. These included sealants, cleanings, extractions and fillings.

Dr. Sara Kalambur and Dr. Jen Akkaway will bring KinderSmile Foundation services to United Way Community Health Fair from 10 am to 12 noon, at 60 South Fullerton Ave, Montclair NJ. KSF will provide free dental screening and preventive oral health care to children, pregnant women, and recent mothers, and give oral health education to 100 attendees. East Orange Child Development Corporation – Family Health and Fitness Day – 10 am to 1 pm, 682 Park Ave, East Orange, in the Playground. Up to 150 visitors will enjoy Healthy Snacks and Health Screenings with EO CDC; tooth brushes and toothpaste will be distributed by KinderSmile Foundation.

Early Head Start (EHS) from Montclair Child Development Center (MCDC) at Fulton Street site was visited by Dr. Sara Kalambur, who brought Exams to 13 children and Oral Health, and Nutrition Education to 13 children and 7 staff.

Early Head Start (EHS) in East Orange Child Development Center (EO DC) at 682 Park Ave, East Orange was visited by Dr. Pooja Khurana to provide services and Oral Health and Nutrition Education for 29 children, 2 pregnant Moms. 11 staff members will be attending Oral Health Education along with the children.

Early Head Start (EHS) in East Orange Child Development Center (EO CDC) was visited by Dr. Sara Kalambur providing Examinations to 11 children. Mrs. Yvonne Kiernan, a Volunteer Registered Dental Hygienist, joined our team for the first time.

East Orange Community Charter School (EO CCS) was visited by Dr. Sara Kalambur, Dr. Jennifer Akkaway and RDH Yvonne Kiernan; they brought examinations to 31 children in grades K-1.

KSF hosted our fourth annual Give Kids a Smile (GKAS) Oral Health Fair at Central Presbyterian Church, 46 Park Street, Montclair, NJ. Children up to age 12 years were invited to enjoy free dental exams, prophylaxis (teeth cleaning) and topical fluoride treatment. KSF invited local preschools; children and staff were bused in for the event. Learn more about GKAS via this PDF Report or at www.njda.org

On Feb. 12, the Red Cross Awards Gala honored Dr. McGrath and others to express gratitude for their contributions to the Community.

Eight happy honorees and two honorary chairs pause in the festivities at the 14th annual Red Cross Awards Gala, held at Mayfair Farms in West Orange on Feb. 12. Honored for their community service were Michael Winchester, seated at left, Nicole McGrath, and Ann Jennings, all of Montclair; and Denise Roman of Nutley, standing at left, Melissa Walker and Margot Sage-EL of Montclair, Reginald Hollinger of Essex Fells, and Elisabeth Ginsburg of Glen Ridge. Standing at right are Honorary Chairs Kathleen and Sylvester McClearn of Montclair. Ofira Bondorowsky of Montclair chaired the gala committee, and for the fifth consecutive year Mary Alice Williams of CBS news was the guest presenter.

KinderSmile Oral Health Programs

Onsite visits are scheduled February through June for various Early Childhood Programs serving infants, toddlers and preschool children in Montclair, East Orange and Orange, as well as a Charter School in East Orange. Services will include dental exam, prophylaxis and topical fluoride treatment. Age-appropriate education on Oral Health and related nutrition will also be presented to children, parents, staff, and caregivers.

Visited East Orange Community Charter School at 106 Washington Street to present Oral Health and related Nutrition education to 200 children enrolled in Kindergarten and First Grade. Students, as well as 25 teachers and staff, were each given toothbrush, toothpaste and dental floss.

Visited Wahlstrom Academy in East Orange to present Oral Health and related Nutrition Education to 150 children, ages 3 to 6 years, and 22 teachers. Arleen Coyle, Professional Tooth Fairy, joined our team for this visit. All children were given toothbrush, toothpaste and dental floss.

NJ Oral Coalition presented "Access to Dental Care: A decade later – How far we have we come?" at Robert Wood Johnson Health & Wellness Center, Mercerville, NJ. The Nursing Department had a successful Dental Screening at The Arc Kohler School on November 17, 2010 from 10 A.M. until 1 P.M. Twenty- five students were seen by Dr. Nicole McGrath, DDS and Dr. Sara Kalambur from KinderSmile Foundation, Inc. Services provided were dental examination, prophylaxis and appli- cation of topical fluoride. A follow-up call is made to the parents by KinderSmile Foundation to give a report of the dental examination. Ellen and Tirsa Rothman were there to assist the dentists as well.

All the students attended Oral Health Teaching pro- vided by Arleen Coyle, Director of Marketing and Recruit- ing from Dental Health Associates, P.A. They donated bags for all students and staff containing a toothbrush, toothpaste and dental floss. The Tooth Fairy also came with a Certified Pet Therapy Dog named Bubba.
