KinderSmile "Give Kids A Smile" Oral Health Fair
GKAS Oral Health Fair. In celebration of Children's Dental Health Month, and Give Kids a Smile, KSF holds a large oral health fair open to the public for walk-ins. KSF provides transportation to over 250 children from the at-risk population to attend this Fair. An oral exam, prophylaxis, and fluoride varnish application are given to each child.
The GKAS Health Fair also brings live entertainment, nutrition and oral health education workshops, tooth brushes and paste, dental floss, and arts and crafts to the children, and a healthy lunch is provided. Representatives from NJ State Medicaid are onsite to assist in signing up eligible families with no dental coverage. KSF will hold GKAS Health Fair for the fourth year on February 4, 2011 in Montclair, NJ
Children who are uninsured and or underserved will be identified and helped with link to dental homes. KinderSmile Foundation (KSF) will verify link to existing dental home and connect uninsured children to dental homes. In addition, referrals and completion of follow-up dental care will be tracked.
Age-appropriate oral health / nutrition education will be provided onsite. All children will be given toothpaste, toothbrush and coloring book/brochure on dental disease prevention. Children enrolled in local area Day Care Centers, accompanied by adults, will be provided with transportation to attend this event. Head Start programs will furnish transportation for their own children.
KSF is a proud affiliate of The National Children's Oral Health Foundation, Inc. and Montclair Health & Wellness Program
