The Jr. Board members of KinderSmile Foundation, Community Service Learning Program will be embarking on their 4th Annual International Outreach trip to Guatemala, May 21- 28, 2013.
This year we will be partnering with Casa de Sion in Los Lomas, Guatemala to provide free dental services and hand out 1,500 oral hygiene goody bags to the poor children in the Mayan villages of, Godinez, Maria del Carmen, Nueva Victoria, Pana Matzilan and Tocashe.
The Jr. Board members consist of High School and College students that share a common thread of Ambassadorship of community service.
Thirty Jr. Board Members of 2012-2013 will be shadowing five dental professionals and assisting with services; dental treatment, oral & nutritional education, dental arts & crafts, and English tutorial sessions. In addition to these services, the Jr. Board members have been collecting lightly used clothing & shoes, school supplies and baby formula to be distributed to children & families in the various villages.
We are asking for financial donations to purchase additional school supplies & baby formula.
Please be a part of our mission and donate as we save lives in Guatemala.
KinderSmile Community Service Learning Program (KSCSLP)
Community Service Learning: KinderSmile Foundation (KSF) provides high school and college students an opportunity to learn about the growing dental health disparities among young children in our community. Serving as Junior Board Members for KSF, they volunteer in planning and organizing Give Kids a Smile activities, learn civic responsibilities, and develop meaningful leadership and workplace skills.
In 2012, the Junior Board experienced a life-changing experience during their mission to Grace International in Haiti. Joined by two dentists, one hygienist and one dental assistant, the Junior Board provided dental cleaning and services, dispensed medication and clothing, and built Tooth Brush Stations for 474 children and adults. This is their story.
