Healthy Mom, Healthy Baby!
KinderSmile Perinatal Health and Wellness Program breaks the dangerous cycle of untreated dental diseases by empowering uninsured and Medicaid-insured mothers, from pregnancy and up to 3 years postpartum, with informative, personal, and culturally sensitive training about the importance of oral health and its impact on the developing fetus and young children.
Upon completion of our training program, graduate mothers earn adult dental care to restore their smiles at one of our Dental Homes! If uninsured, free of cost!
In order to participate, moms must be:
– Uninsured OR Medicaid-Insured
– Pregnant OR recently gave birth (3 years postpartum)
– Willing to attend 1 oral health education session
Mothers eligible for free dental care, will have their initial dental exam and cleaning appointment, and treatment proposed by the dentist covered. Upon completion of recommended treatment, uninsured mothers will be financially responsible for all following appointments, including the 6-month recall cleaning, in which dental care is offered at a significantly discounted and affordable rate for families.

In addition to mothers receiving education and care, all children of mothers (ages 0 to 18 years) will be linked to KinderSmile Community Oral Health Center for continuous dental care.
Programming is currently operating out of Mercer and Essex counties and we are in partnership with more than 140 organizations throughout the state of New Jersey, in order to successfully reach the at-risk perinatal community.
